The Theory About Mermaids

As you may know from Folk-Lore and myth, mermaids and mer-folk are often depicted as gorgeous, handsome/beautiful creatures with the lower body of a fish. Female mer-folk (really called mermaids) are usually featured with long, luscious beautiful hair. They were also said to have the voices of angels, luring unsuspecting sailors to their rocky shores, causing a watery death for the victim(s). Most people call these malicious mer-folk sirens. Although we do not seem to believe they are truly that cruel. Perhaps they do have beautiful voices and sing often, but have no intention to harm any person! We cannot guarantee  this, though, because we do not happen to know any mermaids ourselves. It is sometimes said that some mer-folk fall in love with mortal, usually resulting in a sort of tragedy. The mer-person can obviously not live on land, same with the mortal in water. If a child is born, it may develop mer-folk like features such as gills or a tail, inherited from the mer-person parent. Mer-folk are usually very attracted to any jewel or gem, much like fairies! They will often have some sort of stash of jewels and jewelry deep in the bottom of the ocean, out of human reach. Although the truth about mermaids and mer-folk is yet to be discovered, they still may be dangerous creatures so be cautious if encountering one.
